Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin calls for national security action against hate speech

The Paramount Chief of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has urged the Ministry of National Security to take decisive action against individuals perpetuating hate speech, especially on social media platforms.

Addressing a delegation from the Ministry of National Security during their courtesy visit to his palace in Kyibi as part of the “See Something Say Something” campaign, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin emphasized the need to sanitize the airwaves from verbal attacks targeting personalities, tribes, ethnicities, and religions.

Metro TV’s Eastern Regional Correspondent reports that, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin stressed the importance of holding individuals accountable for defaming and harassing public figures, including public officeholders and traditional leaders. While commending the campaign’s efforts, he pledged his full support to combat any potential threats of terrorism, highlighting the significance of safeguarding national security and unity.

The Ministry’s team leader reiterated the purpose of their visit, encouraging citizens to remain vigilant and collaborate with security and intelligence agencies to mitigate the risk of attacks in Ghana.

Additionally, the delegation engaged with Zongo Chiefs in Kyibi, where the Eastern Regional president for Zongo Chiefs, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, emphasized the unity of Ghanaians regardless of religious affiliation. He underscored the importance of fostering a peaceful environment conducive to practicing diverse religious beliefs.
