The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Hon. James Klutse Avedzi has ordered the arrest of the Northern Regional Director of the National Sports Authority ( N S A ) for failing to deposit internally generated funds amounting to One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc160,000) in the consolidated fund.

At the PAC deliberations, the 2022 Auditor General’s Report cited the Management of the Northern Regional Sports Authority for spending without recourse to the Public Financial Management Regulation, 2019.

The Chairman of the PAC made this call when members of National Sports Authority led by the Minister of Sports Hon. Mustapha Yusuf, Director General of the NSA, the Accountant and some officials of the NSA appeared before the PAC public hearing.

The Chairman expressed regret of the Northern Regional Director’ s conduct and ordered for his arrest.” The PAC is directing the Regional Director and the Accountant should be pickup immediately by the police “.

The Chairman said ” you were invited to appear before the committee and you refused, knowing very well that you had squandered over Ghc 160, 000 and you thought you could go scot free “.
