Parliament to begin vetting of new ministerial nominees today

After President Akufo-Addo’s ministerial reshuffle, the new nominees are expected to appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee today, February 20, 2023 for vetting as required by law.

Among the new nominees is the Adansi Asokwa MP, Lawyer K. T. Hammong who was nominated for the Ministry of Trade and Industry replace Alan Kyerematen who resigned to pursue his presidential ambitions.

MP for Nhyiaeso and former head of MASLOC, Stephen Amoah, who has been nominated as a Deputy Trade Minister.

MP for Abetifi Constituency, Bryan Acheampong has also been nominated to head the Ministry of Food and Agriculture while MP for Akwapim South OB Amoah has been picked as the Minister of State at the Ministry of Local Government.

Others expected to appear before the appointments committee are Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, OB Amoah, and Stephen Asamoah Boateng.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the National Democratic Congress has directed its members of parliament to reject all these nominees.
