Passengers stranded at Kotoka International Airport after flight delayed for hours

Passengers were left stranded for several hours at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra late Friday, July 28.

The KLM airline made a U-turn about 10 -15 minutes after being taken off due to a “technical issue”.

According to an eyewitness, who was onboard soon after boarding the aircraft, the internal ambiance was very warm than usual, on landing it was getting warmer and warmer, – and the fire brigade was called for safety.

The airline is yet to address the issue.

The flight KL590 was scheduled to depart KIA to Amsterdam at 21:49 but was delayed for over 2 hours.

From Amsterdam are the various connecting routes to Canada, the USA, Portugal, etc.

The plane will eventually leave at 23:30 GMT on Saturday, July 29.

There are no plans to compensate or accommodate passengers.

KLM has been contacted for comment.

Passengers expressed their frustration at the development they describe as “horrible” and “exhausted”
