Paul Essien wins NPP Parliamentary Primaries in Jomoro

Paul Essien, a former deputy Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, has been chosen to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the general elections of 2024 as the Jomoro Parliamentary Candidate (PC).

After the NPP’s constituency primary last Saturday, the former deputy minister, who served as a member of the 7th Parliament of the Fourth Republic and represented the Jomoro Constituency, was chosen as the Parliamentary Candidate(PC).

With 496 of the 1,055 valid votes cast, Essien defeated two other candidates, Paul Hopesan Kwaw with 289 and Ishmael Evonla Kwame Whajah with 270.

Due to some purported miscommunication throughout the entire process, the Jomoro NPP primary, which was slated for December 4, 2023, was rescheduled.

The revised date was decided upon by the parties at a meeting attended by all stakeholders, and the primary was held on December 16, 2023.
