Rapper OJ Blaq dies at age 40

Ghanaian rapper Andy Nii Akrashie known in showbiz circles as OJ Blaq has this morning been reported dead after battling illness for some years now.

He died at the age of 40.

The news of his death went rife this morning as it is being reported that he passed on after battling kidney disease.

The rapper known for his witty rap was a huge figure back in the day as he was the first artiste to be signed unto one of Ghana’s biggest music labels Lynx Entertainment.

During his time at Lynx, OJ Blaq released a number of hit songs including ‘Chale Wote’ and ‘Target’.

After a number of years off the music scene, the rapper also known as the Biggie Boy Lover revealed in an interview last year that he had been diagnosed of kidney failure and being put on dialysis, associating it to his unhealthy lifestyle from years back.

With his experience from battling kidney failure, Oj Blaq later switched to urban gospel music and went on to release an album titled Show Dem in 2022.

Since the news of his demise, tributes have been pouring in from various stakeholders in the creative arts industry.
