Meta Business, the business wing of social media powerhouse, Meta has been tasked by the government of Ghana to take a new tax of 21 percent from advertisers in Ghana.
The new tax which will affect boosting on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads will take place from 1st of August 2023.
This was contained in an email from the Meta Business highlighting the order given by the government of Ghana.
According to Meta Business, the tax is based on a charge of the implementation of the new value tax on goods and services.
The email from Meta for Business further added that if you have registered for VAT and provided your name, address and VAT ID , these personal information will appear on the ads receipt and the case of entitled VAT recover, it could help you recover it from the Ghana Revenue Authority.
Further clarity has been provided by the company on their various accounts.
