THE 67TH NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY HAVE BEEN OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED IN KOFORIDUA.

THE 67TH NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY HAVE BEEN OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED IN KOFORIDUA.

 

Ghana’s 67th Independence Day Anniversary celebration which is scheduled to be marked in the Eastern Region, was launched by the National Planning Committee on Thursday, 15th February 2024 at the Auditorium of the Centre of National Culture, Koforidua.

The celebration would be under the theme “Our Democracy, Our Pride” and would be honoured by thousands from across the world with a special Guest of Honour being the His Excellency, Alassane Ouattara, the President of Cote d’Ivoire.

A total number of twenty-one (21) contingents from the various security agencies, eleven (11) from the various schools and ten (10) voluntarily groups in the Eastern Region would be on parade.
The celebration will be under the distinguished patronage of all the eleven (11) Paramount Chiefs in the region whose President is Nene Sackitey II, Kono of Manya Krobo.

The Director of Operations and Chairman of the National Celebrations Planning Committee, Dr Lord Commey, at the Office of the President, stated that, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, representing their Countries would be at the Anniversary ceremony.

Dr. Lord Commey, who launched the Anniversary noted that, the celebration would project the Eastern Region to the globe.
He commended the traditional authorities for their co-operation, interest and support exhibited so far.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, said it was a great privilege for the region to host this year’s Anniversary, he added that, preparations are on-going to deliver a beautiful and momentous celebration. He stressed that, this will sell the region to the outside world. The Regional Co-ordinating Council would work tirelessly towards a successful 67th National Independence Day Celebration in the Eastern Region, he hopefully said.

He called on the people, chiefs, and queen mothers, political parties and youth groups to offer their maximum support to make the event a memorable one.

Mr. Jefferson Sackey, the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, unveiled the 67th Anniversary logo, with its colors; red – representing the blood our forefathers shared for Ghana, green – representing Ghana’s national resources and gold representing the rich resources Ghana possesses.
He said the chosen theme “Our Democracy, Our Pride”, indicates Ghana’s strong democracy which other countries admire.

The function was chaired by his Royal Majesty, the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Dasebre Kwaku Boateng III.
