Third edition of the Super Volleyball championship slated for Dec. 18

The Ghana International School (GIS) in Cantonments, Accra, will host the third edition of the Super Volleyball Championship (SVC), a four-day event from December 18 to 22, 2023.

Touted as the largest indoor volleyball competition in West Africa, the highly anticipated 2023 edition would bring together six of the best volleyball teams across the country to battle for the coveted trophy, prize money, and bragging rights in the men’s and women’s divisions.

Ghana Army Ladies, Ghana Police Ladies, Ghana Airforce Ladies, El-Wak Wings, Ghana Immigration Ladies, and Ghana Prisons will compete in the women’s division in this year’s championship, while Immanuel Presby Church, Ghana Army, Ghana Police, Ghana Airforce, Ghana Prisons, and El-Wak Wings will compete in the men’s division.

Speaking at the launch of the event, founder of the Super Volleyball Championship, Mohammed Aputeog said the organizer had done enough to ensure that this year’s competition would be remembered and subsequently urged participating teams to take advantage of the opportunities the competition serves to meet international standards.

“We have teams that have qualified for three competitions and they continue to do well we all expect that they up their game this year”.

The Technical Head for the Super Volleyball Championship, Alfred Akuffo, added that the special goal for this year’s championship is to improve the game and make it attractive in Accra and Ghana as a whole.

“The special goal for this year is to help improve the quality of valley ball in Greater Accra and Ghana as a whole”.
