Third year AAMUSTED student dies following tragic fire ritual

Prosper Owusu, an Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) student has died after his body allegedly caught fire during a school hall parade.

The Level 300 mathematics student was known for leading traditional rites, mostly chief priest, for the Opoku Ware II Hall on campus.

On Friday, August 23, Owusu and several other hallmates were allegedly engaged in various activities outside the hall when the sad event occurred.

He was hurt in the fire and received emergency medical care at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), but he passed away on September 1, 2023.

The University has commenced investigations into the incident that occurred at the Opoku Ware II Hall.

Meanwhile, students have been cautioned to avoid activities that predispose them to risks and other dire consequences.
