The National Liberation Congress Party has reprimanded the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Fifi Kwetey over his comments that the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a disgrace to Northerners.

Addressing the media, the leader of NLCP, Mr. Stephen Atubiga called on the main opposition NDC to condemn and sanction its General Secretary for his distasteful tribal comments.

According to Mr. Atubiga, the National Liberation Congress Party will continue to name, expose, and shame all political leaders who keep on undermining and discriminating northerners on their platforms.

He stated, “We cannot and should not allow politicians to undermine the peace we have today for their political interests.”

“I therefore call on concerned citizens, National Peace Council, religious and traditional leaders to speak against people who campaign on religious and tribal lines,” Mr. Atubiga said.

He indicated that both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are led by Northerners, therefore, the Northerners will make their own choices based on their experiences and understanding of who between the flagbearers John Dramani Mahama and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia best serves their interests in the North as Northerners.

Mr Atubiga added, “No northerner should think that he is more intelligent than all northerners. Neither John Mahama nor Dr Bawumia, or any of our brothers in politics or any endeavors is a disgrace to the North.”
