Upper East: Ethnic factors won’t affect NPP in Kusaug – Abdulai Abanga

Member of Parliament for the Binduri Constituency who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing Abdulai Abanga has stated that the ongoing Bawku conflict will not have any impact on the elections within the Kusaug Traditional Area.

He made the statement at the party delegates conference in Binduri on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

The New Patriotic Party has only one seat in the Upper East Region. In the 2020 elections, Abdulai Abanga who contested on the ticket of the NPP won the Binduri constituency which was carved out of the Bawku Central Constituency.

Recent events of tribal clashes in the Bawku area have made the NPP unpopular within the six constituencies of the Kusaug Traditional Area.

However, at a delegates conference in the area on Saturday, Abanga Abdulai demised those claims and indicated that the people of the area would vote based on track records.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, who is a native of Binduri also stated that those days that NPP was unpopular in the area is gone and urged party faithful to remain focused towards the general elections.

The Binduri constituency failed to acclimatise their Member of Parliament Abdulai Abanga after a court order by one Alex Avoka Amolbugri.
