Upper East Region bolsters security at border communities amid insurgent threats

The Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, has announced that the government has strengthened security measures in major border communities in the region due to the activities of insurgents in neighboring countries.

Speaking at the 20th anniversary of the Zekula festival at Kulugungu, Dr. Salih assured that efforts are underway to protect Ghanaians living in border communities. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious characters to the authorities.

The move comes as a precautionary measure to prevent potential spillover effects from the insurgent activities in neighboring countries. The government’s proactive approach aims to ensure the safety and security of citizens in the region.

Dr. Salih’s announcement was made during the Zekula festival, a significant cultural event in the region, which brought together people from various communities. The festival provided a platform for the Regional Minister to engage with residents and address their concerns.

The Upper East Region shares borders with Burkina Faso, Togo, and Ivory Coast, making it vulnerable to security threats from neighboring countries. The government’s efforts to enhance security in the region are crucial in maintaining peace and stability in the area.
