Violence Erupts in Gomoa East District: Paramount Queenmother Calls for Urgent Action

 

In a shocking turn of events, the Gomoa East District of the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area has been rocked by violence and insecurity, culminating in the tragic shooting death of Lance Corporal Michael Danso. The incident, which occurred at Millennium City in Gomoa Fetteh, Central Region, has sparked outrage and calls for immediate intervention from local authorities.

Preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that Lance Corporal Danso was fatally shot by Benlord Ababio, allegedly over a land dispute. The victim was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. In response to the incident, Paramount Queenmother Obaatanpa Ama Eduwa I of the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area in the Central Region has issued an urgent press release condemning the reign of terror and landguard activities plaguing the district. The Paramount Queenmother Obaatanpa Ama Eduwa I expressed her deepest condolences to the family of the victim and the Ghana Armed Forces, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention to restore peace and security to the community.

The press release highlighted the suspect, Benlord Ababio, reportedly a Chief in the area, as a member of a syndicate of landguards, contravening Ghana’s Land Act of 2020. The Paramount Queenmother called for swift action from National Security Agencies to address the threats posed by landguards and restore peace to the area.

Furthermore, the press release shed light on the indiscriminate conferment of Chieftaincy titles by the destooled Omanhen, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobia II, contributing to the escalating tensions in the district.
