The management of VIP Jeoun Transport Service, a famous private intercity transport service says it is adjusting its prices upward.
The increment is due to the constant upward adjustment of fuel prices at the pump and current economic hardships making it unable to shoulder the operational cost.
The upward adjustment affects both the Standard Tour and Executive coaches.
The company announced the new transport fares in a statement issued on Sunday, 23 October 2022.
This development comes after the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) served notice on Friday intention to increase its transport fares.
According to the union, the new rate has been necessitated by the continuous soaring of prices of petroleum products at the various fuel pumps.
Currently, Diesel and Petrol are selling for over GH¢15 and GH¢13 respectively at major fuel pumps; a situation transport operators say it’s eroding their profit.
However, a meeting between the GPRTU and Transport Ministry last week on the fare adjustment ended in a stalemate.
