A baby girl who is a few weeks old has been rescued from the Achimota Forest by personnel of the Ghana National Ambulance Service.
The neonate who is believed to have been abandoned in the forest by her yet to be identified mother was spotted by some civilians who went to the forest in the wee hours of Tuesday August 22, 2023 for prayers.
A call was placed to the ambulance service and the baby rescued by Emergency Medical Technician team from Ayawaso North.
The baby was rushed to the Achimota Hospital where she was declared safe.
Baby abandonment phenomenon appears to be rising as about a week ago a similar incident occurred at Gomoa Akraman in the Central Region where a three months old baby girl whose mother abandoned her in a bush was also rescued.
