Yarigungu: Residents sing and dance as they receive mechanized borehole

Some residents of Yarigungu in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region could not their excitement after receiving the first ever mechanized borehole to the community.

Residents of the area have been sharing drinking water with pest, vectors and animals from an uncompleted well located at the heart of the community.

An initiative by the Member of Parliament for the area, Abdulai Abanga to equip the Binduri District with portable drinking water gave Yarigungu their fair share of a mechanized borehole.

 

Households gathered at a point where drilling was ongoing in an anxious wait for water. After an aquifer got broken and water started gushing out, women and children bursted into singing and dancing.

“We are have shared water with reptiles for far too long. We must be rejoicing now because we won’t drink water from frogs fecal matter anymore,” Abugbun Issifu who spoke on behalf of the women stated.

The generality of the population applauded the Member of Parliament for Binduri for coming to their aid and pledge to handle the borehole with care.
