YEA begins disbursement of funds to garment and textiles beneficiaries in Eastern Region

The Youth Employment Agency has commenced disbursing funds to beneficiary companies under its newly launched Youth in Garment and Textiles Module in the Eastern Region.

A total of one million two hundred and sixty thousand is being disbursed amongst twenty-six beneficiaries as part of the first batch beneficiary.

Some seventy-one companies and individuals are expected to benefit from the support funds in the Eastern Region, to train young enterprising persons under the module.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of operations at the Youth Employment Agency, Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim Mohammed, says the support exercise is open regardless of one’s political affiliation.

He also noted that the support is not coming for free, so beneficiaries are expected to use it responsibly not indulge in lavish lifestyles.

Failure to train the people provided by the Agency may result in the funds being refunded.

On his part, the Regional Director of the Authority, Jerry Osei Poku indicated that when the youth are recruited in other policies of YEA especially the Zoom Police after two years they become redundant, therefore, steps are being taken to change the situation by helping the youth to learn some trade.

Some of the 71 beneficiaries who received 18,700 checks each said the fund will help them expand their business and support the youth who are interested.
