3 Tarkwa Gold Robbers Arrested

Police arrested three individuals in connection with a robbery attack on a gold-buying business in Akoon-Tarkwa, in the Western Region.

On April 18, 2023, the suspects Ezekiel Stephen Oghenekaro, Samuel Amoashie, and Fatawu Awudu stormed the gold store with the help of three other suspects who were armed. They fled with an undisclosed sum of money.

Following the assault, the Police immediately began an operation against the group and made three arrests in the nearby wilderness, near the townships of Esuosu and Benso.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, police said a search of them in the woods resulted in the recovery of three motorcycles and a sack weighted down with an unknown sum of money thought to be the loot from their heist of the store.

All of the accused were later brought before the Tarkwa District Court on April 21, 2023, and have been remanded into legal custody to appear again on May 3, 2023.

The police are currently conducting an intelligence operation to apprehend the remaining gang members.
