Dr. Dominic Ayine, Co-chair of the 8-member ad hoc committee constituted to address the Minority’s censure resolution for the dismissal of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, has stated that the investigation indicated that the Minister misbehaved himself.

Supporting the motion on Thursday, December 8, Dominic Ayine, therefore, requested a secret ballot vote on the measure.

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin stated that the procedure he used to handle the censure motion was legally sound.

Delivering his ruling on the report submitted to him by the 8-member ad hoc committee, in Parliament on Thursday, December 8, the Speaker said “…the procedure is well rooted in law.”

“The public hearing has vindicated my decision. The referral of the motion is proper and in accordance with the law, the House may now proceed to debate the motion,” the Speaker stated.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin constituted an 8-member committee co-chaired by KT Hammond, Adansi-Asokwa MP, and Dominic Ayine, Bolgatanga East MP, on Thursday, November 10, to probe the allegations.

The committee which has seven days to submit its report comprises Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Bernard Ahiafor on the Minority side and Patrick Yaw Boamah, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi and Andrew Agyapa Mercer from the Majority side.

The Minority side in Parliament filed a motion seeking a vote of censure to be passed on Ken Ofori-Atta over the current economic crisis.

The NDC MPs made seven allegations against the Finance Minister.
