Founder of Image Bureau, George Quaye, has expressed doubts about reasons given by some social media users for Wizkid’s absence at his debut concert in Accra.
Rumour hovering around indicates the International Afrobeats star did not show up at the Accra Sports Stadium for the much-anticipated concert due to the inability of the organizers to honour a clause in the contract — to fill the auditorium to capability.
But George Quaye has said such reports cannot be accurate and apparently, it is miles away from the truth.
Speaking to Metro TV’s Paul Adom-Otchere, he stated “If truly the events planners agreed that ‘we would fill the stadium to a certain magnitude before you [Wizkid] show up’ Then, It was wrong.”
“No event planner anywhere in this world can guarantee audience turn up no matter what publicity you put in place,” George Quaye opined on Good Evening Ghana on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
He explained that “the variables are too many. You are fighting against weather and other personal problems. I can buy your tickets and still not show up not because I don’t want to but something happened.”
Regardless, the showbiz enthusiast said there is a prerequisite and that “unless you are buying the audience. When you have money to buy an audience to fill a place that is a different conversation
Meanwhile, Live Hub entertainment, the organisers have said Wizkid breached a contractual agreement for failing to show up at the concert.
Live Hub entertainment assured patrons of a full refund of fees.
“Dear LiveHub Nation, Wizkid breached his contractual obligation last night. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. We will issue FULL refunds to all who paid for tickets. Please send your barcode to thelivehubinfo@gmail.com,” the statement noted.
On the other hand, Wizkid, known in real life as Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun has intimated that his decision not to show up was well-considered.
“Ghana is a country I hold so dear to my heart, first and foremost I wanna apologise to all my fans! Y’all know I would never do anything, without a serious reasoning behind it.
“My brand is something I don’t joke with! I sincerely apologise to everyone who made the effort to come out to me last night. I was charged up, looking forward to doing this show.
“However, please understand that every decision I made co-sided with honoring my fans and would only make a drastic decision like this because it was the right to do and I had to,” he tweeted on Sunday.
The ‘Come Closer’ rooner promised his fans to organizer an event to compensate them.
