The Public Relations Officer of Kotoku Royals Football Club, Okatakyie Afrifa, has expressed disappointment in prominent natives of Akim Oda for abandoning the construction of the sports stadium in the area.

He indicated that the former Member of Parliament for Akyem-Oda, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, the Member of Parliament for the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah and MP for Asene Akroso Manso Constituency, George Kwame Aboagye have all failed to lift a finger in support of the construction of the Akim Oda Sports Stadium.

The Senior Presidential Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, served the Akim Oda Constituency from 1997 to 2009 after winning three consecutive Parliamentary elections.

In an exclusive interview with Justice Collee on OriginalTV/Original 91.9FM’s Hang Tyme Show, Okatakyie, the mouthpiece for Kotoku Royals registered his displeasure.

” Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Hon. Yaw Osafo-Maafo, and Hon.George Kwame Aboagye, couldn’t even support us with a single cement to help us fast track the construction of the Akyem-Oda sports stadium. However, we appreciate the support of the current MP for Akyem-Oda, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah. He has invested about two-billion old Ghana Cedis into the project”.

The team’s debut campaign in the betPawa Ghana Premier League has had the Oda-based team play its home games at the Cape Coast Stadium since the Akim Oda Stadium isn’t fit to host games in Ghana’s top flight.

In order to host league games, Kotoku Royals will need to develop several areas at the facility.

Okatakyie Afrifa further stated that renovation works aren’t going as planned due to limited finances, as a result of individuals’ failure to fulfill their pledges and promises.

Kotoku Royals are haunted by relegation as they sit at the bottom of the Betpawa Premier League log with 22 points.
