Mahama speaks on economic crisis Oct 27

John Dramani Mahama will address Ghana’s current economic woes in a speech slated for Thursday, October 27, 2022.

This announcement was made by the National Communications for the National Democratic Congress, Mr, Sammy Gyamfi on Monday morning.

“John Mahama speaks on Ghana’s collapsed economy and the unprecedented hardships sweeping across the land and the way forward on Thursday, 27th October 2022 at 7 pm,” Mr. Gyamfi said in a tweet.

The former President is expected to provide possible solutions to salvage the country from the untold hardship under the leadership of President Nana Addo Darkwa Akufo-Addo.

Among other things, Mr. Mahama is expected to tackle the depreciating cedi, high taxes, and rising inflation which have together caused hardships and public outcry.

Last week, at a meeting with Executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), held on Friday, 21 October 2022, Mr. Mahama called on the government to come clean and tell Ghanaians the true state of the economy.

“The government should come clean and tell us what the state of the economy is. You must put everything on the table,” he said.

The former President indicated the need to have a “national dialogue” and “bring the best brains together” to help solve the economic challenges.

“I have been president before, it served me well. I called the Senchi Forum, it didn’t reduce my stature as President.”

In his view, if actions are not taken,  it will be “catastrophic” for all Ghanaians.
