Ablakwa triggers RTI Law to demand answers on how Rev Kusi Boateng obtained multiple TINs, others

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency Samuel Ablakwa has filed a Right to Information request to the Ghana Revenue Authority and the Registrar General’s Department seeking updates on charges he leveled against the Secretary to the Board of Trustees for the National Cathedral, Rev. Vincent Kusi Boateng.

The Ranking Member on the Foreign Committee of Parliament requests an internal probe and answers on what is being done after the exposés.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, the truth has to be ascertained on how the founder of the Power Chapel Nationwide Church allegedly secured different Tax Identification Numbers (TIN), registered companies under dubious names, and obtained multiple passports, contrary to the Revenue Administration Act.

“I have still been working on the Cathedral project. I filed an RTI request this week to the GRA and the Registrar General Department demanding answers on what is been done after the exposés,” he told Dr. Randy Abbey on Friday, January 27, 2023.

During his welcoming remarks on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, the North Tongu lawmaker was optimistic the truth will prevail after the Ghana Revenue Authority and the Registrar General’s Department complete investigations.

“What can of systems are they operating that allows certain forces – ‘Angelic Forces’ – to virtually breach the system and just compromise everything,” he added.

Accusations

Okudzeto Ablakwa accused Rev. Kusi Boateng of operating under multiple identities to carry out dubious deals.

In a lengthy post on his Facebook page on Friday, January 20, the lawmaker who has made several allegations of conflict of interest against the man of God said Rev. Kusi Boateng has used different names of women as his biological mother to secure different Tax Identification Numbers and has used same to register multiple businesses.

“Therefore, from unimpeachable official records, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng miraculously has two biological mothers — Yaa Gyamfua and Agnes Ataah.

“Interestingly, he has made no attempt over the years to correct or amend the records. On the contrary, he appears to be benefiting from this grand well-orchestrated conspiracy as he proceeds to engage in numerous business transactions with both names.”
