Aisha Huang denies involvement in galamsey

Embattled Chinese national Aisha Huang has denied any involvement in mining or its related activities.

Aisha Huang, affectionately called Galamsey Queen, disclosed in her witness statement during her criminal trial.

The Galamsey kingpin is facing allegations of illegal mining, often known as galamsey, without a license.

The prosecution called 11 witnesses to testify about her role in unlawful mining in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.

Aisha Huang, who unlawfully returned to Ghana after being deported in 2019, on the other hand, claims that her company has never engaged in mining activities and does not have a mining license.

She contends that the prosecution’s evidence is untrue.

Meanwhile, Huang Lei, Aisha Huang’s son, was convicted and sentenced to a GH10,800 fine in March 2023 after pleading guilty to charges of lingering in Ghana after his permit expired, possessing ammunition without lawful authority, and possessing falsified official documents.

Huang Lei was detained in November of the previous year for the same offenses as other Chinese nationals.

The accused initially pleaded not guilty before Justice Lydia Osei Marfo.

Huang Lei’s lawyer, on the other hand, indicated preparations for his client to modify his plea to guilty on December 16, 2022.

Aisha Huang’s son subsequently pleaded guilty in criminal court 4 before Justice Comfort Tasiame.

The court fined him GH10,800 and ordered his deportation.
