Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has signed a new deal to stay with the Bundesliga champions until 2025.
The 37-year-old returned to the team in October after 10 months out, having broken his right leg on a skiing trip.
Neuer has won 11 league titles and is approaching 500 appearances for the German club.
“I’m happy to be staying at FC Bayern for another year. After my long injury, I’m back in full swing,” Neuer said.
“It’s immense fun for me to be on the pitch with this team. I’m sure that, together with the fans, we can achieve our big goals in the coming years – and obviously the 2025 Champions League final in Munich is one of them.”
Allianz Arena will stage that showpiece game for the second time. Bayern lost on penalties to Chelsea in 2012 at their home stadium.
During Neuer’s absence, second-choice keeper Sven Ulreich stepped up and earned himself a new contract at the club, also until 2025.
Yann Sommer was a stopgap signing from Borussia Monchengladbach and featured for much of last season after Neuer’s post-World Cup injury, before he was sold to Inter Milan in August, leaving Ulreich and Neuer as the club’s two senior goalkeepers.
“Knowing that I still have Sven by my side makes it even nicer,” Neuer said of his extension.
Bayern sit second in the Bundesliga behind Bayer Leverkusen but remain unbeaten in the league this season.
