Boyfriend kills girlfriend, 22, attempts suicide at Ekumfi Dunkwa  

A young lady in her early twenties (20) has been stabbed by her suspected boyfriend at Ekumfi Dunkwa in the Ekumfi District of the Central Region.

The victim, Patient Obeng, a 22-year-old woman told her parents on Saturday evening that she was going to bed and she left her parents at home not knowing she was going to her boyfriend’s house.

At about 11:00 pm local time, Saturday, September 30, 2023, night some residents living around where the incident happened heard her screaming for help but they refused to attend to the calling because that wasn’t the first time and only for them to see the lifeless body of the victim lying in the room with some stains of blood on her half naked body.

A pair of scissors, a screwdriver, and a hammer were found beside the deceased in the room.

It is suspected the boyfriend used those objects to stab the victim.

Speaking to Metro News, the mother of the deceased, Ekuwa Essumamba, said her daughter didn’t spend the night with her in the same house and that she woke up on Sunday morning expecting her to come home.

She tried calling her on the phone but she was not answering.  Later, a co-tenant of the deceased told her about the argument they heard on Saturday night.

She went to the house and found her room door unlocked, she managed to enter the room and saw her daughter lying on the floor with some blood stains on her half-naked body.

She shouted for help.

The prime suspect Kofi Gyan is currently receiving treatment at the Saltpond Government Hospital, for trying to commit suicide after killing her girlfriend.

According to Madam Ekuwa Essumamba, it was once reported to her that her daughter was having an affair with the suspect Kofi Gyan, and she warned her against Kofi Gyan because of their different religious beliefs

The mother of the victim is now demanding justice for her child

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Saltpond Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation while the suspect is also receiving treatment at the Saltpond Government Hospital monitored by the Police.
