Charles Bissue, a former secretary of the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, has dropped one of his cases against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Mr. Bissue’s lawyers notified the court on Thursday, June 22, 2023, during proceeding that they had been given the go-ahead by their client to revoke the request to overturn the OSP’s arrest order for him.
Following Charles Bissue’s voluntarily turning himself in to the OSP, he was detained, questioned, and then released on bail.
The application’s withdrawal was not opposed by the prosecution.
Two further cases Charles Bissue brought against the special prosecutor’s office are still pending. In one instance, Mr. Bissue expresses worry over alleged violations of human rights.
The other lawsuit questions the Special Prosecutor’s office’s authority to investigate him despite the fact that he had been cleared by the Ghana Police Service.
