Chief, residents of Gomoa Fetteh appeal for development

Indigenes of Fetteh in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region are appealing to the state for their share of the country’s developmental projects.

The area lacks basic social amenities causing town folks to make demands for the provision of same.

Gomoa Fetteh is one of the coastal communities in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

Although a primarily farming community, the town’s contribution to the country’s revenue mobilization through tourism can never be underrated as it has one of the beautiful and tidy beach fronts that attract tourists.

It is also a fast-developing area due to its proximity to the Greater Accra Region.

But the town lacks basic social amenities with key concerns being emphasized on the lack of a befitting health facility.

Presently, the only health facility available to the people is a Community Health Planning and Services(CHPS) Compound which is woefully inadequate to serve the health needs of the people.

More worrying is the fact that, a maternal ward which also served as a labor war attached to the facility has been converted to serve as the residence for health workers.

Pregnant women are therefore left with the option of commuting to other jurisdictions such as Senya Beraku, Kasoa, and as far as Winneba compromising their safety and that of their unborn children.

Chief of the community, Nana Abor Attah II, however, says the traditional authorities have put in place mechanisms to address the developmental challenges.

He says a ten-year development plan which will ensure a carefully planned execution of developmental projects has been instituted by the council.

Speaking at the grand durbar of the 2023 Gomoa Fetteh Ahobaakese Festival the Nana Abor Attah II called on interested partners to come and assist the community in that regard.
