COCOBOD refutes claims of iPad keyboard procurement

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has clarified that no approval has been granted for the procurement of keyboards, emphasizing that no transactions for their purchase have occurred.

“We wish to emphasize that Management has not sanctioned the procurement of the keyboards, and consequently, no procurement transactions have taken place” statement from COCOBOD said.

The statement addressing a widely circulated memo proposing the procurement of iPad keyboards for its Board of Directors. The memo, which COCOBOD indicated originated from the Information Systems Department, outlined the request as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce paper usage during board meetings through the adoption of the “CONVENE” App.

“The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has taken notice of the widely circulated memo originating from the Information Systems Department of the Board.

The said memo is a proposal requesting management to approve the procurement of iPad keyboards for members of the Board of Directors”

Statement from COCOBOD on Monday April 1, 2024 stated that the proposal to introduce iPad keyboards aimed to leverage technology for more streamlined and collaborative board meetings, aligning with COCOBOD’s commitment to embracing digital solutions. Despite the potential benefits outlined in the memo, management reiterated that the procurement remains unauthorized at this time.

“The request to purchase iPad keyboards was based on the Board’s adoption of the “CONVENE” App which is part of efforts to reduce the use of paper and stationary during board meetings, while at the same time, enhancing productivity and collaboration among members.”

The statement underscores COCOBOD’s cautious approach to financial matters and commitment to transparent governance practices amidst ongoing efforts to modernize operations.
