Confusion rocks Ashaiman NPP presidential election over voter album

Misunderstanding took the centre stage in the NPP presidential election in the Ashaiman Constituency as agents for Kennedy Agyapong raised issues with the voter album in use.

Amongst other things, they questioned the reason for proxy votes when the individuals are around to vote themselves and also alleged that there are ghosts names in the register.

However, their concerns were ignored as the Electoral Commission (EC) officials insisted on using the alleged fraudulent register which the representatives of the Assin Central lawmaker oppose and suggest it favours Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The situation resulted in counter accusations but the reps of Kennedy Agyapong allowed the process to continue in the name of peace, but describe the process as fraudulent and unfair.

The Ashaiman Coordinator for Kennedy Agyapong Joseph Ofosu Siaw insists there are several anomalies in the voter album.

Mutala Abdullah, an agent for Dr. Bawumia, calls the allegations as unfounded in the sense that Kennedy Agyapong himself has accepted the register in question, saying he is surprised at the claims by his agents at this eleventh hour.

Meanwhile, the NPP Ashaiman Constituency Chairman, Alexander Amanor Nagbeku, has admitted that his attention was drawn to some anomalies which they resolved and agreed to use the old register which he has no option but to oblige.
