Electrocution in Jei Krodua leaves 2 in critical condition

Two persons are battling for their lives after suffering critical burns as a result of electrocution at Jei Krodua in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region.

The two persons got electrocuted by an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) high-tension power line in separate circumstances.

According to residents, they had forwarded several complaints to the ECG to restore a broken electricity pole but the outfit kept shifting timelines and even failed to cordon the area or post any sign of danger.

On Tuesday, 21 November 2023, a lad who had visited the area to ease himself was dragged by the intense power in the cable. He suffered severe burns and was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Residents report that on Wednesday morning they followed up to the area after hearing a loud explosive noise only to realize that an adult who was scavenging for recycling materials had also been electrocuted and was also rushed to the hospital.

An eyewitness says it’ll take grace and mercy to have the lives of the victims sustained.
