Entire Ghanaian middle-class risk being wiped out due to poor governance – Kwakye Ofosu

A Communication Team Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has registered his disappointment in the Akuffo Addo government and their expectations for a positive appraisal.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu criticized the NPP government for its abysmal handling of the economy resulting in the debt restructuring program which will create a difficult environment for bondholders and investors.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the Former Deputy Communication Minister expressed that, “the pain and suffering that this sort of maneuver has caused is unprecedented [and] the entire Ghanaian middle-class risk being wiped out because of this.”

“The pain and anguish out there is palpable. You can cut it with a knife. How does a Government praise itself for doing this?” he jabbed.

Several members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have said the Akufo-Addo administration deserves commendation following the way and manner the economy has been managed.

In September 2022, Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko observed that despite the slump in revenues, bills are being paid, including salaries.

“The Akufo-Addo government and, in particular, MoF, deserve the nation’s commendation for their handling of the economy in these most challenging times. Despite slump in revenues, bills are being paid, including salaries, roads being fixed, & money found for programmes like YouStart,” he tweet.
