Sedina Christine Tamakloe Attionu, the “absconded” former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), and Daniel Axim, the interdicted Head of Operations, are on trial in this case. The verdict in this case is anticipated from the Financial and Economic Division of the High Court in Accra.

The two were accused of a number of offenses, including purposefully causing the Republic to suffer financial loss.

The second accused, Daniel Axim, was forced to close his case in February of this year because he could not appear in court with his witnesses to provide testimony.

Mrs. Attionu Tamakloe, the former CEO of MASLOC, and Daniel Axim entered not guilty pleas to a total of 78 accusations in front of the court, which was presided by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, a Justice of the Court of Appeal serving as an extra High Court judge.

The 78 charges include money laundering, conspiracy to steal, theft, stealing, causing damage to public property, financial loss to the state, improper payment of public funds, unauthorised commitment that results in a financial obligation for the government, and violation of the Public Procurement Act.

As the Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) from November 2013 to January 2017, Sedina Tamakloe Attionu is being tried absenteely after the court pronounced her “absconded.”

Daniel Axim, the former Chief Operations Officer of MASLOC, has consistently appeared in court.
