Fears as Cholera outbreak looms in Tamale

Residents of Nalung in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region are calling on government, individuals, and organizations to help evacuate a heap of refuse in the community which they say is causing diseases to their children.

They made the call when Metro TV’s Northern regional correspondent Alhassan D Baba visited the community.

Many communities across Ghana, in recent weeks, benefited from the nationwide evacuation exercise carried out by waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited in collaboration with the Local Government Ministry.

Unfortunately, Nalung, a community in the Tamale metropolitan area of the Northern Region could not benefit from the exercise even though the area is very filthy as a result of rubbish that has not been attended to, for so many years.

When Metro TV reached out to the Tamale metropolitan assembly a representative told us it is “part of their plans”

However, residents say this has been the response given since time immemorial.

They are therefore calling on the central government and any benevolent organization to come to their aid.
