Floods submerge over 150 houses in Gomoa Mampong

More than 150 houses have been inundated with floodwaters in Gomoa Mampong, following the blockage of the main bridge over River Ayensu by a contractor working on the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway.

The contractor, who is constructing a modern bridge to accommodate the volume of water, blocked the main bridge, causing the river to flood the community unexpectedly around 2:30 pm today.

Fortunately, no lives have been lost in the flooding, but residents have been affected by the sudden inundation of their homes.

River Ayensu, one of the largest rivers in the Central Region, originates from the Eastern Region and flows through the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway at Gomoa Okyereko before emptying into the sea.
