Free SHS has improved quality secondary education — Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice president, has praised the success of the free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.

He claims that the program has made historically wide access to free secondary education possible.

Speaking as a guest speaker at the inaugural Mamprugu Zaabuni Youth for Development Annual Congress on Sunday in Walewale, Dr. Bawumia said as much.

He applauded the group’s intellectual leaders and the Mamprugu youngsters for founding “such a progressive association, which is aimed at fostering unity and promoting development.”

In a Facebook post after the address, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said “Our government has always encouraged and supported the development objectives of such youth associations across the country, and we will continue to do that, in our quest to ensure inclusive development in every part of the country.

“I seized the opportunity to share with the Congress, government’s development projects in the area, as well as many national interventions, including our flagship policy on education, Free SHS, which has ensured unprecedented access to free  secondary education, roads, sports facilities, jobs for the youth,  digital initiatives that have increased access to government services, creation of new regions and associated infrastructure, zipline drone delivery for medicines, construction of new court buildings.”
