From Hearts of Oak reject to GPL top scorer — The story of Abednego Tetteh

Bibiani GoldStars’ talisman, Abednego Tetteh, has disclosed that he nearly hanged up his boots after Hearts of Oak terminated his contract in 2021.

Tetteh, popularly known as Zlatan, did not fare well during his 15 months stint with the Phobians and was shown the exit door.

The former Bechem United forward was excluded from Hearts of Oak’s squad 2021-22 CAF Champions League before he took to Facebook to bid farewell to his teammates.

Speaking to Gideon Okyere Anim “Gatusso ” on Original 91.9FM’s Super Sports Show, the inform-striker expressed how glad he was to have become the cornerstone for Bibiani GoldStars after Hearts of Oak rejected him.

“I would like to say a very thank you to my coach Michael Osei, for giving me a second in my football career . He was the only coach who didn’t give up on me, even when I gave up on myself”.

Abednego Tetteh registered two quick fire goals inside the opening 33 minutes against Kotoku Royals on matchday 32 to give Gold Stars a remarkable start.

In the end, Bibiani recorded a 3-1 win at DUN’s Park over bottom placed Kotoku Royals.

The Bibiani-based forward has become the leading goal scorer in the ongoing 2022/23 Ghana Premier league (GPL) season with 16 goals after 32 matches.
