Geological Survey Authority call on constructors to prioritize earthquake friendly materials in their works

The Acting Director-General of the Ghana Geological Survey Authority, Mr. Isaac Kuwan has called on the public and private institutions including individuals to consider the frequency of earth tremors and other symptoms of earthquake when doing construction works in the country.

He made the call during a media sensitization workshop on earthquake and its related events in Tamale.

Earth tremors are becoming common in the Ghanaian capital, Accra raising the possibility of an actual earth occuring in the future very high.

It is therefore important for the Ghanaian people to be sensitised on the occurrence of earth quake and how to behave if it occurs.

During a one-day engagement with journalists in the Northern sector of the country, the acting Director of the Ghana Geological Survey Authority, Isaac Kuwan urged the government and private institutions to consider using earthquake friendly materials in their constructional works.

He added that it’s crucial to start the public sensitization exercise with the media because it plays an important role in every aspect of our national development.
