Ghanaians are afraid Mid-Year Budget review will cripple their businesses — Zuwera Ibrahimah

Member of Parliament for Salaga South constituency, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah says Ghanaians are afraid of new taxes likely to spring up from today’s mid-year budget review.

During her submission on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on July 31, 2023, she stated that reactions gathered from people through interviews earlier this morning indicated that the majority of Ghanaians are not excited about the budget review as its content, although unknown, is likely to include new taxes that seek to shake the foundation of their businesses.

“Ordinary Ghanaians were interviewed about Ken Ofori Attah’s presentation of the Mid-Year Budget review in parliament, and they are scared. Entrepreneurs were worried that he might bring new taxes which have become Inimical to their businesses. Businesses are closing down in this country,” she said.

She established that Ghanaian want to vote for a government who can provide for them a good standard of living for themselves and families and not a government who will drain them of their business capital with enormous taxes.

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, is set to deliver the 2023 mid-year budget review in Parliament. Initially planned for July 27, 2023, the presentation was rescheduled to July 25, 2023, but was eventually canceled.

Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah describes it as the “only window left” for the Finance Minister to present the budget review.
