Ghanaians overreacted to ex-French Ambassador’s “diplomatic passport” comment — KiDi

Highlife singer KIDI has stated that Ghanaians are overreacting to the former French Ambassador, Anne Sophie Avé’s call for the issuance of diplomatic passports to musicians.

He believes the French diplomat meant well.

While highlighting the significant impact of some Ghanaian artistes in projecting Ghana’s entertainment industry on the global stage in a tweet, Anne Avé called on the government to consider giving diplomatic passports to these individuals.

Among the musicians, the ex-French Ambassador mentioned Black Sherif, Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, R2bees, and King Promise. According to her, these artists have been exceptional ambassadors for Ghana, surpassing the achievements of career diplomats in terms of projecting Ghana’s image positively to the world.

Her tweet sparked debate on both social and traditional media platforms.

KiDi, known outside showbiz as Dennis Nana Kwaku Dwamena commenting on the proposal registered his dissatisfaction with the argument mounted against it.

He told Original TV’s Akosua Boahemaa in an exclusive interview that he feels like Ghanaians are overacting and taking things too far.

“What she said has been taken too far, most especially, by the media, there is something called exaggeration just appraise someone’s good efforts it’s just a phrase of appreciation,” he said.

The ‘Say Cheese’ crooner noted that issuing diplomatic passports is not a matter of debate and that the former French Ambassador didn’t even mean the way Ghanaians have over-twisted her words and made a mountain out of a molehill which shouldn’t be the case.
