International Women’s Day: EC celebrates women, champions gender equality and inclusion ahead of 2024 elections

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) is celebrating all women who have been at the forefront of championing progress and development across the country on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Embracing this year’s theme of “Inspire Inclusion,” the Commission pledges its unwavering support to champion the rights and representation of women in the country.

In a statement released today, the Commission emphasized its commitment to leaving no one behind, particularly women and other vulnerable groups, as Ghana prepares for the upcoming General Elections in December 2024.

“As a Commission we believe in leaving no one behind. As such, ahead of the 2024 General Elections, we will work towards the inclusion of women and other vulnerable groups in all our activities”

As the nation celebrates International Women’s Day, the Electoral Commission extends warm wishes to all women and girls, acknowledging their invaluable contributions and resilience, underscoring the Commission’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and equitable society, where every individual, regardless of gender or background, has the opportunity to participate and contribute to the nation’s development.

“As such, ahead of the 2024 General Elections, we will work towards the inclusion of women and other vulnerable groups in all our activities. We encourage all eligible women and girls to participate actively in our electoral activities and in the General Elections in December 2024. On this memorable occasion, I wish all women and girls a Happy International Women’s Day” the statement said.
