Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister of Finance, has expressed optimism that the La General Hospital will be operational by the end of 2024.

The government reports that it has obtained 50 million euros to complete the construction of the institution, meaning that the destroyed La General Hospital will be rebuilt.

The public, particularly the Minority in Parliament, has strongly criticized the government’s decision to demolish the building.

Nonetheless, the Finance Minister stated that contractors had moved to the location to start construction in the 2024 budget that was submitted to Parliament.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the Finance Minister promised the contractor that payments would be made on schedule, which would help to finish the project.

“We will have a standing commitment that meets at least a requirement that will ensure we keep timestamps on it so that next year the president will be here to commission it. We look forward to working with you to ensure that your payments come in time,” he said.
