The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has named former Education Minister, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, as his running mate for the 2024 general elections.
This is the second time the former president has chosen the Central Region native to partner him for the top job. During the 2020 elections, Mr. Mahama settled on the former Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
Mr. Mahama’s running mate was announced at a meeting in Accra on Thursday, February 29.
Prior to the announcement, several PRO-NDC groups have suggested that he chose economist and IT specialist Leslie Mensah Tamakloe as his running mate. They believe his expertise and background as a voltarian were needed to help the main opposition National Democratic Congress secure the 2024 elections.
However, It is clear Mr. Mahama sees Madam Jane as a better partner for the task ahead.
