Majority Caucus reshuffle: Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu should have finished serving his term – Joe wise

The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament says the immediate past Majority Leader Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu should not have stepped down.

Joseph Osei Owusu said Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is an extremely hardworking fellow, therefore, he felt disappointed about his decision to resign from his duty as the majority leader in Parliament.

Speaking with Akosua Asabea Asomaning on Original TV’s Hot Seat in an episode aired on Sunday, February 25, 2024, the Bekwai MP commonly known as Joe Wise saidKyei [Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu] never sleeps when there’s work to do thus I felt he could have waited to finish with his term before deciding to resign.”

Joe Wise indicated that Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu once told him that he does not want to be the eye of the storm therefore he believes that is the reason for his resignation.

“I have a close relationship with Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and we are still putting thoughts together on how to support the party,” he added.

Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu stepped down from his position on Thursday, February 21.

He announced his resignation at a meeting convened by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House in Accra.

Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo Markin has since been named the new Majority Leader.
