Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso exit from ECOWAS threat to subregion – Adib Saani

Foreign policy and security analyst Adib Saani, says the withdrawal of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) threatens security within the subregion.

According to him, the three junta-states have allied to sue the ECOWAS which is going to affect the other member states.

Adib Saani, stated that the countries in the sub-region may be affected as a result of the terrorists associated with these three junta states.

Speaking in an interview with Metro TV, the security analyst explained that the militants in those countries are building grounds and taking control over lands that might pose a threat to the sub-region.

He intimated that one way to ensure and maintain security in the sub-region is through collaboration and sharing of intelligence which is the main essence of Accra initiatives put together to stop the flow of terrorists from the Sahel region into the littorals.
