MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS AND NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME SIGNS MoU TO ADVANCE GHANA’S SPORTS SECTOR

 

Yesterday, Wednesday, November 1, 2023, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by the Minister, Hon. Mustapha Ussif and the National Service Scheme, led by the Executive Director of NSS, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deploy National Service Personnel to key sports organizations in Ghana to advance the course of the country’s sports industry.

 

During a brief ceremony at the Ministry in Accra, Hon. Ussif emphasized the significance of harnessing the professional and creative capabilities of the service personnel, who will be committed to offering their skills and expertise in areas such as marketing, physiotherapy, psychology, financial management, social media management, and content creation, among others.

 

He said the primary objective of this collaboration is to match academic knowledge with hands-on experience to enhance the positioning, promotion, and branding of various clubs and sports federations, enabling them to compete on a global stage.

 

Hon. Ussif urged all stakeholders involved in this partnership to seize the opportunities it offers and fully leverage the initiative to foster growth within their respective organizations. He also urged all beneficiary organizations to play their roles diligently and remain dedicated to the successful execution of the MoU, emphasizing, “Together, we can drive youth and sports development in Ghana to unprecedented heights.”

 

While taking his turn, Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi, highlighted that this collaboration represents a groundbreaking initiative.

 

He pointed out that the sports organizations and federations in Ghana require fresh, modern perspectives to assist with administrative tasks and institutional branding, adding that, “The critical role of marketing for sporting clubs and expressed confidence that the service personnel would be instrumental in designing effective marketing strategies to generate significant interest and support for local leagues, thereby strengthening sponsorship drives.

 

The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi, also noted that his organization has been limited in its capacity to receive service personnel. However, with this collaboration with the National Service Scheme, he is confident that the necessary personnel will be available to facilitate the day-to-day administration of the Authority.

 

He pledged his unwavering support for the initiative and assured its successful implementation.
