NDC NEC introduces new minority leadership to Caucus

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially introduced the new Minority leaders to the caucus.

The Minority Chief Whip Governs Kwame Agbodza disclosed on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana hosted by Dr.  Randy Abbey on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.

The introduction is a due process followed after a change in the parliamentary caucus leadership. However, due to the misunderstanding that greeted the recent change in the Minority leadership, the process was halted.

“The National Executive Council introduced us [the new Minority leaders] to the caucus which is what they normally do they were not able to do that because the letter apparently leaked leading to the agitation

“Now that all that have been taken care of, this morning, we are all going to Parliament not to focus on any other thing but focus on the thing that matters to Ghanaians.”

“The issues have been resolved,” the Adaklu MP said.

Background

A statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, announced Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as the new Minority Leader with Emmanuel Kofi-Armah Buah as the Deputy Minority Leader.

MP for Adaklu, Governs Kwame Agbodza was also named as the party’s new Minority Chief Whip, taking over from Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak.

This development has since been met with a lot of resentment from some quarters of the party, including Tamale Central MP, Murtala Mohammed who has questioned the timing and relevance of the change.
