Niger Coup: Deploying troops will have dire consequences on Ghana’s security — Kofi Adams

Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency in the Oti Region, Kofi Adams says sending troops to Niger could have dire consequences on Ghana’s security which could result in a terrorist attack on Ghana.

He has, therefore, urged the Akufo-Addo-led government to take precautionary measures should the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) decides to deploy troops to restore diplomacy in Niger following the coup.

Speaking to Original TV, Kofi Adams, who is a member of the Defense and Interior Committee of Parliament said the government should be strategic on such moves by ECOWAS to safeguard Ghana’s security.

ECOWAS is expected to hold a Summit in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, on Thursday, August 10 to discuss the crisis in Niger following a military coup.

This came after the expiration of the 7-day ultimatum given to the coup makers to restore the country to democracy and reinstate the elected president or face military intervention.
