A notorious car snatcher has been beaten to death by a mob at Awutu Bosomabena in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region, while his accomplice remains in the grips of the Awutu Breku District Police Command.
The deceased was in the company of one other suspect when he snatched a Hyundai i10 taxi cab with registration number GE 5718-22 from Nsawam.
It has always been the modus operandi of the suspects who are residents of Nsawam to hire the services of taxi drivers from Nsawam and have their vehicles snatched in the Awutu area of the Central Region.
They had always ask their victims to use take Bawjiase-Bosomabena-Ahentia stretch which is a randomly used bushy road and take advantage of the quiet nature of the area to snatch their vehicles.
The duo hired the services of a taxi driver from Nsawam and attempted to snatch his vehicle from him at an area on the stretch close to the Awutu Bosomabena village.
An alarm was however blown by the taxi driver who was under attack and residents as well as farmers in the developing area drew nearer.
The suspects were arrested by the mob but luck eluded one of the suspects as he was beaten to death.
Police’s intervention saved the other suspect who was initially taken to the Awutu Bontrase Police station and later transferred to the district police command at Awutu Breku.
The vehicle which got partly damaged was also taken to the police station.
Meanwhile, the police have commenced investigations into the incident.
